Focus on Photography

My husband and I always knew we wanted fabulous pictures to capture the memories of our special day. I had been "blog-stalking" a few local wedding photographers for months before we were even engaged!

Our parents decided to throw us an engagement party only a few weeks after we were engaged, so we really wanted to have pictures taken. We were so early in our wedding planning process that we hadn't chosen our wedding photographer yet. Kristen Overbay, of Overbay Photography and Design, was my sorority sister in college and was beginning her career as a photographer. She has a wonderful eye and amazing talent, so we found it only fitting to ask her to do our engagment session! All of our pictures were amazing!!

I finally discovered Erin Browne Photography on one of my blog-stalking ventures and immediately fell in love with their work. Erin and her husband, Matt, work as a team and are such a cool couple! The package we chose included either an engagement session or a bridal session, and since we already had our engagement pictures, I decided on the bridal session!

When our big day finally arrived, Erin and Matt were there to capture every moment! We were more than thrilled to receive our proof books, and then our DVD! You can find Erin's blog about our wedding here.

We should be receiving our Storybook Album soon and I can't wait!!

It's All in the Details

As a coordinator myself, I am very blessed to be given the creative ability to DIY almost everything in my wedding!! Here are a few images of some details as a result of my DIY tactics!

Remember from my earlier post that my bridesmaids and I did ALL of the flower arrangements!
Flowers purchased from Wholesale florist-$950 (includes all flowers used for rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception; all floral tape, wire, and ribbon)

My Sister-in-Law handmade all of the bridesmaids jewelry as a gift. She will have a blog soon, so check her out! "SHE by Sarah"-approx value of each set $25 (earrings and necklace)

In addition to the programs(~$50), I also designed and printed our save-the-date magnets(~$80), invitations(~$1.15 each), favor tags, etc.

For the table runners, I purchased a large roll of white taffeta fabric with velvet damask embellishments. One of my bridesmaids and I cut and hemmed all of the runners and tableclothes. ($70 for 10 yards of fabric-made 4 tablecloths and 3 runners for all specialty tables)

Lastly, my husband insisted on having a cookie cake for his groom's cake. His plan was to get a large rectangular shaped cake. After much discussion, I convinced him that not only would it be unattractive to have a plain flat cake next to our large fancy wedding cake, but that it also would be not be enough cake. We decided on 3 cakes of 3 different sizes. I purchased the Grecian columns and the beaker and test tubes for the topper, and we created our own 3-tiered groom's cake! (Cost for the columns and cake topper-$20)

All in all, DIY projects are so fun to do and you can make things exactly the way you want them! I saved alot of money by doing DIY projects, but some were time consuming. So unless you have quite a bit of free time on your hands, you'd probably want some help!

That's all for now!

Flowers

I purchased my flowers at a wholesale florist and my wonderful bridesmaids help with the arrangements. We had white rose centerpieces at the rehearsal dinner.

For the wedding we used orange gerbera daisies, yellow calla lilies, purple ranunculus, green cushion poms, and pink roses. We had a total of 6 bridesmaids bouquets, a toss away bouquet, 15 boutonnieres, 12 corsages, 16 small bouquets for chair ties, 3 large food table arrangements, 3 medium arrangements for the guest book table, and other random tables, and 16 centerpieces.

Bouquet Detail:

My bouquet was made with all of the same flowers listed above, only in white. We also added a little bit of young hydrangea with a green tint.

Open for Business!

Hello blog world! So over the past year or so, I've become an expert at what I call "Blog-Stalking." It all started when I discovered someone's cooking blog and went back into their archives and looked at hundreds of their entries. Then I discovered the "Followers" section and started reading all of their blogs, and from those, even more blogs! When I got engaged in July 2008, my stalking was directed more towards the wedding blogs! I've tried 3 times to start my own blog, but each time has been an epic fail. Hopefully, this blog will continue and live long, the way I hope my coordinating business does!
